Wrought Ironwork V Mild Steel

We can manufacture any bespoke wrought ironwork project to your specification. Most wrought ironwork is now made in mild-steel, this is because wrought iron is rare and is a very expensive material. Whilst it is the carbon content that is different within these metals – the opportunities in design are much the same.

Wrought Ironwork restoration can be considered: contact the Forge to discuss any project you may have. Generally works to listed buildings or conservation areas may require like-for-like replacement of Wrought Ironwork and it is important to get the specification of this right – as there is a substantial cost-premium if this material is required. Otherwise mild steel can be used as a much cheaper alternative.
